What I'm Doing in my Real Job

Now that I'm back working as a medical illustrator for the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, I've been doing these drawings for Medical Genetics. It's a series of markers/indicators for Down's Syndrome.

Not all Down's children have them all, nor are they always of the same intensity. The plan is to help medical students learn to recognize the signs so that they will check for the possibility. The idea is to emphasize one or more indicators per drawing.

The videos from which the screen captures are taken show a group of really charming and happy children.

A Big Zero!

My "main" present from Rich: Specially commissioned journal by Wayne McNeil . I've been keeping a journal since the mid 70's, but this is the nicest repository I've ever had. I hope I will prove worthy! Also, it's something I had been wanting, and had made up my mind to buy one this Friday at LoDa ArtWalk since my current one is almost entirely full. Let's hear it for husbands who pay attention!

What were my other presents, you may well ask? Two nice-size Autumn Blaze maple trees [Rich says we're too old to wait on the little ones we planted] and a indoor/outdoor weather station to keep up with those freezing temps we're having.

Add to that a night out with the girls last night which netted me free beer and other goodies, and a still-to-come night out with Rich at True. We are letting the weather decide us on which night that will be.
